Pumpkin... and more pumpkin

After Halloween was over we still had 2 extra pumpkins around. So, we did this...

{We put the 2 pumpkin halves and the seeds in at the same time. You just add 1 cup of water to the bottom of the pumpkin pans, and we sprayed the seed sheet and sprinkled salt on them.
Set the oven for 350 degrees.
The seeds only take about 15-20 minutes.
The pumpkin halves take 90 minutes though!

{We pulled out the halves and took the skin off}

{the pumpkin pulp}

{Mashing the pumpkin, then made mixtures for a pie, bread loaf and muffins.}
The pumpkin loaf recipe I had I just substituted whole wheat flour for 1 cup and still
did 3/4 cup of regular flour.
I also used raw sugar instead of processed sugar.}

{pumpkin pie. I found out that the smaller pumpkins give the pumpkin pie
more of an orange color, and we used a large pumpkin.... hence the light color}

Halloween

Well, as long as I'm behind on things... why not go ahead and post them anyway, huh?

Here are some fun (and funny) snapshots of our small halloween party.

{This picture cracks me up. All of the guys dressed up like rockers of some sort... here they are acting like they're ready to trick or treat :) }

Invitation Design

I just finished a looong project :) It was designing the following invitations (along with the RSVP card and doing inner envelope names). It was fun to design something this classy and simple.

{and...all by hand, no printing!}

Happy Birthday Val!

Friday was my sister's birthday... so, this is a little late.

We had a great weekend going up North to visit her and her husband, as well as my parents! My sister is a blessing in my life and though we didn't always get along so great (like fighting over clothes in high school :) I'm grateful for more time and conversations that we're able to have now as we get older.

Fabulous Finds

How do you creatively design your life or your living spaces?

It's been fun and challenging for me to try to add just enough to make our current space a bit of our personalities, while not bringing too much into it to make it too crowded- but still useful.

Here are my current favorite finds from this Etsy shop (a friend, of a friend, of a friend :) seriously):

This designer's name is Whitney and she says in her Etsy shop "10% of the proceeds that come from sales will go to the International Justice Mission, which works to secure justice for victims of modern-day slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. To learn more, visit their website: www.ijm.org. It is my hope that through this little shop, women around the world may experience a 'brighter day.' "
